This is the website for project OBIS-SEAMAP (Ocean Biogeographic Information System - Spatial Ecological Analysis of Megavertebrate Populations). Marine mammal, seabird and sea turtle data are being organized into a spatially referenced database. This project is one of the primary data providers to the Ocean Biogeographic Information System.
Here is the current status of OBIS-SEAMAP data:
- 235 datasets comprising 2,268,103 records, spanning years 1935 to 2008
- 514 species observed
- 133 species having profiles

OBIS-SEAMAP Data Distribution
Number of observations in 1x1 degree cells in the OBIS-SEAMAP database. Observations include direct observation from at-sea and airborne platforms and telemetry locations.
