New summary maps of all data in the OBIS-SEAMAP database have been added to the front page.
New summary maps of all data in the OBIS-SEAMAP database have been added to the front page, replacing our old Google Map displaying OBIS-SEAMAP projects. The new maps display the number of observations recorded within 1x1 degree grid cells. A tabbed interface allows users to view all data or by taxon (mammals, birds or reptiles). The maps are automatically updated once a week. They clearly show the incredible density of data from North America and highlight the current gaps in data from many other parts of the world.
